The Kansas City Chiefs are an NFL team based in Kansas City, Missouri. The Chiefs compete in the NFL as a member of the Western Division of the American Conference. The team was founded in 1959 as the Dallas Texans by businessman Lamar Hunt and was a founding member of the American Football League (AFL). In 1963, the team moved to Kansas City and assumed its current name. The Chiefs joined the NFL as a result of the merger in 1970.

The team is valued at over $2 billion. Hunt's son, Clark Hunt, serves as president and chief executive officer. Although Hunt's ownership transferred to his widow and children after his death in 2006, Clark represents the Chiefs at all league meetings and has ultimate authority over personnel changes.

The Chiefs won three AFL championships, in 1962, 1966 and 1969. In 1970 they beat the Minnesota Vikings in Super Bowl IV, to become the second AFL team (after the New York Jets in 1968) to defeat an NFL team in a Super Bowl game. The Chiefs were also the second team at that time, after the Green Bay Packers (1967-1968), to appear in more than one Super Bowl. Ironically, in 1967 in Super Bowl I, they lost to the same Green Bay Packers. Since then, the Chiefs have won 4 of their last 5 playoff games, including Super Bowl LIV in 2020, which earned the franchise its first championship in 50 years.

The Kansas City Chiefs have a special relationship with our country, as they have agreed to two NFL games in Mexico. Unfortunately, in 2018 there was no game in Mexico since the conditions of the Santa Ursula Colossus were not suitable for playing the game. In 2019 the conditions of Azteca Stadium were optimal for the development of the game, and Los Angeles Chargers as well as the Chiefs gave us an electrifying game that ended with a score of 17-24 in favor of Kansas.
