Club de Fútbol America S.A. de C.V., commonly known as Club America or simply America, is a professional soccer club based in Mexico City, Mexico. Nicknamed Las Aguilas (The Eagles), it competes in the Liga MX, the highest level of Mexican soccer. The club was founded in 1916, and since 1959 has been owned by the media company Grupo Televisa. The team plays its home games in the Azteca Stadium, the largest stadium in Mexico and Latin America, and the seventh largest soccer association stadium in the world.
The club has a longstanding rivalry with Guadalajara, as both are the most successful and popular clubs in the country, and are the only clubs that have never been relegated to the second division. The matches between them are known as El Súper Clásico, considered as the biggest rivalry in Mexico, and one of the biggest in the world. America also plays local derbies against Cruz Azul and Club Universidad Nacional.
The club has won a record thirteen league titles, as well as a record six Mexico City Cup titles and six Champions Cups. In international competitions, America has won ten FIFA-recognized club trophies, the most for any club in the CONCACAF region. It has won a record seven CONCACAF Champions Cup / Champions League titles, two Inter American Cups and one CONCACAF Giants Cup.
