The Liga de Expansion MX is a Mexican professional football league founded in 2020. It was created as part of the Mexican Football Federation's "Stabilization Project", which has the primary objective of rescuing the financially troubled teams from the Ascenso MX and prevent the disappearance of a second-tier league in Mexico. As part of the change, for the next six seasons, there will be no promotion or relegation.
16 teams participate in the Expansion League, that is two tournaments played per season, between the champion teams of both tournaments. This soccer match is called the MX Expansion League Champion.
